Obasanjo, reportedly involved in an Accident along Lagos Ibadan Express Way

Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo escaped death on Saturday after his car had a burst tyre along the Lagos-Ibadan Express Way.

According to reports from Online News Platforms, Obasanjo was returning from a church programme organised for the 10th year remembrance of his late wife, Stella Obasanjo, when the minor incident occurred.

While on his way to the airport, one of the rear tyres of Obasanjo’s Lexus SUV burst along the road.

Although it can’t be immediately ascertained if anyone was hurt from the tyre incident, Obasanjo was reported to have been travelled out of the country for proper medical attention.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps, has downplayed the severity of the incident, stressing that it was a mere ‘tyre problem’.

The FRSC put out a statement to this effect on its Facebook page.
It said: “Contrary to reports in the social media platforms that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had a serious crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway today, the vehicle in which the former president was traveling only had tyre problem.”
“President Olusegun Obasanjo moved into the backup vehicle and continued his journey while the blow out tyre was changed and left the scene.”
