The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) said on Monday in Kaduna that it had arrested six tanker drivers who allegedly diverted 148,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the state. Alhaji Modu Bunu , the state NSCDC Commandant, said this while parading the suspects before newsmen. Bunu said that the tankers were impounded on Saturday at an undisclosed location within the state, adding that the product was meant for Abuja , Jos and Kano , but was allegedly diverted to Kaduna . The commandant said that the arrest was based on intelligence information which led to the mobilisation of operatives to strategic locations. He said that the suspects were arrested at about 12:15 a.m. on Saturday within Kaduna State. "Details showed that the tanker with registration number KAF 662 ZA was carrying 30,000 litres of PMS while DKA 515 ZP had 40,000 litres. The Lagos State Government said on monday that it had begun to seal off houses without standard toilets. Mr Oluwatoyin Awosika , the Director of Public Enlightenment in the state’s Ministry of Information and Strategy, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the closure of the houses was to check "unwholesome practices” such as open defecation. According to him, the government is also embarking on public enlightenment to educate residents on the dangers of open defecation. The former acting Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Musa Mayaki has revealed how he was punished by the Goodluck Jonathan administration for censoring insulting statements made by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during on-air campaigns.
